A hint of spring

It was so nice the other day, we just had to be outside. So, we went to the park to play for a while. Emma loves to be outside, so she loved it! It makes me so excited for when everyday will be that nice!

Happy Easter!

Checking out the loot!
Her favorite easter present by far was the bubbles.....
...with the microphone coming in at a close second.
Finding easter eggs
easter basket from Grandma.

Easter Eggstreme

We went to the Easter Eggstreme at Thanksgiving Point yesterday. And as you can see, Emma was thrilled to be there.......
....but after a while she warmed up to the idea and started having fun.
We are getting ready for the egg hunt where Emma got NO eggs. But a cute little boy saw Emma crying(during one of her tantrums) and thought it was because she didn't get an egg. So, he gave her one of his eggs. So cute!
The fact that she got no loot didn't bother her, because she got to go on the cow train. By herself, mind you! She was brave, I was not! I was so worried the whole time that she would try to climb out! But she did great!

She even got in on some hula-hoop action!
Although it was crazy busy and really cold, we managed to have some fun. But, I don't think we'll be returning next year.

HELP!!!

So Friday Emma threw the biggest temper tantrum to date. It was bad. We were at a restaurant, and we had to get it to go because Emma wouldn't calm down. I thought, "Well, that was weird, but I'm glad that's over." Well, it wasn't. She threw a giant tantrum yesterday, and again today. I don't know what to do. I feel like something must be wrong with her. Something must be bothering her. But people keep telling me its just her age. It mostly happens when she wants to walk. But its like something makes her mad, and then it just escalates until she can't calm down. She is completely inconsolable. It really makes me sad! So, I need your help. Any advice on how to handle temper tantrums with a 20 month old. Its hard because Emma can talk pretty well, and understand, but there is still a major communication barrier. I'm at a loss. I'll try anything! (Except violence, as that was my brothers solution.)

Eggcellent !

Last Wednesday we got together with our cousins and colored easter eggs. It was a lot of fun. I didn't know how into it Emma would be, but she loved dropping the eggs in the dye , and waiting for them to come out a different color. We had to strap her down , though, so she would stay put. That girl is always going! I have always liked coloring easter eggs. It is one of my favorite things about easter. Being able to watch Emma enjoy it made it even more fun! I tried to get Tyler to do it with me before we ever had Emma, but now he has no excuse!

When you wish upon a star......

We decided to take Emma to the Disney on Ice Princess Wishes. I wasn't going to take her at first, but we got a good deal on tickets, and we don't have to pay for her yet. I wasn't sure how well she would do, but she did great! She only got restless a few times, and seemed to enjoy watching the show. Tyler was absolutely thrilled to be there ( he was a good sport). And really, I probably enjoyed the show more than anybody. I'm just a big kid, what can I say?

Emma's friend Hailey let us borrow one of her dress-ups to go to the show. Emma could have cared less, but I thought she looked so cute as Tinkerbell!

At one point we had to pull out the big guns, and get Emma some popcorn. This was the smallest bucket they had, and of course, it was ridiculously priced, but it did the trick!

Soon after getting the popcorn, Emma decided it would be easier just to eat the popcorn like this.

Answers to the Survey

Those who answered did very well!

1. Where did we meet? Depends on who you are. I think most thought that meant me and Tyler. If that's the case, we met in the pre-existence. Just Kidding, it was Mr. Cortez's 8th grade science class.

2. Middle Name. Don't Have One.

3. My eyes are green.

4. Siblings. Two brothers and One sister. Plus two sister- in- laws.

5. Favorite thing to do. Shopping

6. Favorite Music. Show tunes and country.

7. Shy or Outgoing? I consider myself more outgoing than shy, but I guess it really does depend on the situation.

8. Rebel or Follow the rules? I do follow the rules most of the time.

9. Any Special Talents? No. But I do like to sing, play the piano, and do crafts.

10.How many kids? Contrary to popular belief, I just have one, and none on the way.

11.Desert island...stranded....what would I bring? I don't know. I like what Angela said. But unfortunately I'm really not that smart. I'd probably take my family.(Ahhhhhhhh)

Does anyone have a pillow?

I am in the dog house tonight. Well, maybe for a few nights.

For the record, there is only one child in our family. Unless the milkman has been around, there is no child on the way...yet. In reality, it was a test to see if people really read other people's posts. Apparently I was very mistaken... of course they do.

If this does not make sense to anyone reading, read the comments on the previous post...

I hope I can remember!

20 years ago- I was 5. I remember taking dance from Ms. Margene. In the big recital I fell on my bum. And then when everyone was parading through the aisles at the end, I wasn't paying attention, and got lost and cried. I was also probably swimming in the gutter with Katie. (Gross, I know. I don't know what we were thinking!) I don't remember much else.

10 years ago- I was 15, and in 9th grade at Kennedy Jr. High. I had a crush on Tyler, and I think it was reciprocated. I was a good student. Angela was my best friend. This is where my singing career began in Mrs. Parks mixed chorus. I also made my acting debut ( I really am a horrible actress) as Glinda in "The Wizard of Oz."

5 years ago- Tyler had less than one year left on his mission. I had just barely finished Hair School. I was working at Zurcher's the party store(Don't Ask), and also Tuxedos By Lee. I was going through the application process to be a counselor at Oakcrest. I later worked as a counselor at Oakcrest and LOVED it!

3 years ago- Tyler and I had been married for 8 months. Life was blissful and happy. I worked for Tyler's uncle and cousin as a dental assistant.

1 year ago- Tyler and I had been married for about 3 years. Emma was 7 months old and cute as ever! I worked for a pediatric dentist just one day a week. I was enjoying being a stay at home mom for the most part. Every day was a new experience with Emma. At this point I think she was sitting up on her own, and still learning to roll over.

So far this year- Tyler and I have been married for almost 4 years. Emma is a year and a half and just learned to walk in January. I continue to work one day a week at the pediatric dentist, and one night a week at Gymboree(the only way to afford the place is to work there! :) ) Tyler got a new job at Jacobsen Construction. Life continues to get better and better!

today- We got up early (thanks to Emma) . We went to church. Emma loves playing in the nursery. Tyler attended Young Men's. I attended primary. When we got home, Emma ate lunch ( a little jealousy from mom and dad as it is fast sunday!) Emma is now sleeping, as well as Tyler, and I...... you all know what I'm doing.

later tonight- We are going to go to Tyler's parents house for dinner. Then we will come home, put Emma to bed, and get ready for tomorrow because Emma's going to the babysitter's while I go to work.

tomorrow- Tyler goes to work. I go to work at the dentist. Emma gets to play all day with her friend Hailey.

this year- We look forward to Emma turning 2. Tyler and I will both turn 26. We hope to get pregnant sometime this year. When is still up in the air. Tyler is going on a fishing trip with his brother in Minnesota. Family vacations are on the agenda. Its going to be a great year!

Sorry if that was long! Now I tag Becky, Natalie, and Kristy!

Yuck!

Okay, so today I think I have done the singularly grossest thing I've had to do since I became a mother. I was giving Emma a bath, and I walk into my room to find her clothes(my room and the bathroom are connected). Well, I walk back into the bathroom to find a little surprise in the bathtub! Yep, today Emma pooped for the first(and hopefully last) time in the bathtub! It was disgusting! I didn't know how else to clean it up, but to pick it up with my hands ( with gloves of coarse!) The whole time I was gagging so bad! And I am not a queasy person! I'm just glad I hadn't eaten breakfast yet, because if I had, poop would not be the only thing I had to clean out of the bathtub. So, maybe I'm overreacting, but I would challenge anyone to come up with something worse!

Special Needs Valentine's Dance

For Valentine's Day we got to do something really fun. Tyler's dad served in the Special Mutual Young Men's Presidency for a long time. They have a big dance around Valentine's day. Well, we got to be the live music! Our friend Peter organized us into a band, and we got to play! It was so much fun! Our band consisted of the master mind, Peter, doing most the work. Tala on guitar and vocals, Tyler on guitar, bass, keyboard, and vocals (As he would say, "Jack of all trades, master of none!), Jacob on drums and vocals, Tony on percussion, and me, the lone girl, on vocals. We had a blast! And I thought we sounded pretty good for only getting together once a year, and about 1.5 hours of practice time all together! But the best thing about it, is the audience could care less how you sound. They're just there to have a good time, and boy did they ever!Who's this goofy guy?
Karli and one of our special needs friends.
Emma got in on the action, too!
Daddy was so proud!

Valentine Treat

So, for Valentine's Day, I wanted to do something fun and different for Tyler. If you've ever seen Edible Arrangements, they are so cool! But I didn't want to pay a lot of money for one, so I decided to make my own. It was a two day process, and by the time I was done it probably cost just as much as an actual Edible Arrangement ( not really). But I wouldn't have had near as much fun!

The main part of my Edible Arrangement was chocolate covered strawberries. But I saw a candy making kit at Target, and decided that looked fun, and that I was going to add candy to my arrangement.

I never knew candy making was so fun! It was hard at first, but once I got the hang of it, I really had a good time!

What do you think? Do I have a future at Cumming's?

President Gordon B. Hinckley

I think its crazy how you can have such tender feelings for someone you've never personally met. I was so humbled today as I watched President Hinckley's funeral. ( I can't believe how emotional I was! It was like it was my own grandpa!) I am so grateful to have lived under his leadership. What a Christ-like man he truly was. He was the prophet during the most impressionable years of my life. I have a great love for him, and the example that he was. He has left quite an impression on the world, and on me personally. I realized how much I would truly miss him as they showed pictures and video of him during the closing song. It seems weird that we won't see his "adorable" face, or hear his distinctive voice anymore. But he has left us quite a legacy. And I have a renewed desire to Stand a little taller, and be a little better.
