Yuck!

Okay, so today I think I have done the singularly grossest thing I've had to do since I became a mother. I was giving Emma a bath, and I walk into my room to find her clothes(my room and the bathroom are connected). Well, I walk back into the bathroom to find a little surprise in the bathtub! Yep, today Emma pooped for the first(and hopefully last) time in the bathtub! It was disgusting! I didn't know how else to clean it up, but to pick it up with my hands ( with gloves of coarse!) The whole time I was gagging so bad! And I am not a queasy person! I'm just glad I hadn't eaten breakfast yet, because if I had, poop would not be the only thing I had to clean out of the bathtub. So, maybe I'm overreacting, but I would challenge anyone to come up with something worse!

Special Needs Valentine's Dance

For Valentine's Day we got to do something really fun. Tyler's dad served in the Special Mutual Young Men's Presidency for a long time. They have a big dance around Valentine's day. Well, we got to be the live music! Our friend Peter organized us into a band, and we got to play! It was so much fun! Our band consisted of the master mind, Peter, doing most the work. Tala on guitar and vocals, Tyler on guitar, bass, keyboard, and vocals (As he would say, "Jack of all trades, master of none!), Jacob on drums and vocals, Tony on percussion, and me, the lone girl, on vocals. We had a blast! And I thought we sounded pretty good for only getting together once a year, and about 1.5 hours of practice time all together! But the best thing about it, is the audience could care less how you sound. They're just there to have a good time, and boy did they ever!Who's this goofy guy?
Karli and one of our special needs friends.
Emma got in on the action, too!
Daddy was so proud!

Valentine Treat

So, for Valentine's Day, I wanted to do something fun and different for Tyler. If you've ever seen Edible Arrangements, they are so cool! But I didn't want to pay a lot of money for one, so I decided to make my own. It was a two day process, and by the time I was done it probably cost just as much as an actual Edible Arrangement ( not really). But I wouldn't have had near as much fun!

The main part of my Edible Arrangement was chocolate covered strawberries. But I saw a candy making kit at Target, and decided that looked fun, and that I was going to add candy to my arrangement.

I never knew candy making was so fun! It was hard at first, but once I got the hang of it, I really had a good time!

What do you think? Do I have a future at Cumming's?

President Gordon B. Hinckley

I think its crazy how you can have such tender feelings for someone you've never personally met. I was so humbled today as I watched President Hinckley's funeral. ( I can't believe how emotional I was! It was like it was my own grandpa!) I am so grateful to have lived under his leadership. What a Christ-like man he truly was. He was the prophet during the most impressionable years of my life. I have a great love for him, and the example that he was. He has left quite an impression on the world, and on me personally. I realized how much I would truly miss him as they showed pictures and video of him during the closing song. It seems weird that we won't see his "adorable" face, or hear his distinctive voice anymore. But he has left us quite a legacy. And I have a renewed desire to Stand a little taller, and be a little better.

It is Official!

The college grad has his first job! And his first hard hat B-) I was offered a job this week with Jacobsen Construction that I am thrilled about. I start on Monday on a project at Weber State University. Other than an hour drive everyday, I can't wait to be involved. I will be helping the building receive an LEED accreditation, a national recognition for energy and environmentally friendly buildings. Real World here I come!

Who's Child is She?

The Books Have Been Closed

It is officially over! I am a college grad. At times I thought it would never come but I made it. I just took my last final yesterday to finish my degree in Construction Managment from BYU. 4 years ago to the day I was released from my mission. I made it. It can be done. (Not to mention while living in Salt Lake the whole time. However, I did almost shed a tear as I left the UTA park-n-ride for the last time {:D )

As I look back I would not have traded it for the world. It was a priceless education and a time I will value for the rest of my life. My apprecation goes out to all those who helped make it possible, especially by beautiful wife, Lauri, who has stuck with me the whole way. Not to mention, allowing me to do homework even when there was a great deal to be had at the mall! ;) Lauri, I love you, and could not have done it with out you. Also, my dear parents, this would never had been possible with out you.

The only thing I ask myself now is... what's next? Real world here I come!!

He goes shopping with me, and only complains maybe 10% of the time. And if you know how much I love shopping, that is really saying something! He is always trying to make others feel good in some way. He's kind, loving, generous, funny, ambitious, understanding, and the list goes on and on! I love how we can be silly together. Embarrassing moment

So, yesterday I went to lunch with my good friend Katie and her daughter Hailey. Lunch was great- sticky finger salad at Wingers(one of our favorites). We got done with lunch and headed out to our cars. Emma was playing with my car keys. So as I was buckling Emma in her car seat, I took the keys and threw them on the front seat. I finished buckling her in and shut the door. I went to get in the car, but I had a problem. The door was locked! Emma had pushed the lock button on my keys! I was locked out, and she was locked in! Nobody with a key to my car is less than an hour away. So, I call Katie and tell her my situation, and she told me to call 911. I was hoping there was another way, that I could somehow just call the cops or something. But apparently Katie has had experience with this kind of thing.(not with Hailey) So I call 911 and tell them my situation, and they ask a lot of questions, and get a lot of information. So I was expecting that a cop would come and unlock the door, no big deal. So when the cop car passed, I went out to flag them down, assuming they were looking for us. No sooner than this cop lady got out and started slim-jimming the door, another cop car came, and he started slim-jimming the other door. Soon another cop car was there, and then another(total of 4!). That's not all! Two seconds later the fire department showed up in their big red fire truck, sirens and all! So to make this long story longer, They got the door open in a matter of minutes, Emma was absolutely fine! In fact, she thought the whole thing was kind of funny! (as did Katie!) She kept laughing as I looked in the windows at her, and as the police officers talked to her once they got the door open.
She was probably in there a whole 10 minutes if that. Needless to say, I was a little embarrassed by the whole big production. But its nice to know that the cops act quickly in the case of a real emergency!

Rise and Shout, the Cougars are out!

Last Saturday we got to go to the BYU Game. Tyler's aunt Cherie was going to go, but couldn't, so she gave us her tickets. It was really fun, because Tyler's grandpa is a member of the Cougar Club, and he has really great seats! We were on the second row, and about the 40 or 50 yard line. I couldn't believe how good Emma was. She sat through the whole thing! I thought for sure at some point she would just break down and we'd have to leave, but she saved that for later that night. Anyway, we had a great time, especially since the cougars won! Thanks Grandpa Ord for a fun Saturday. Go Cougs!

Trunk or Treat! Smell my feet!

Yesterday, we went to our first "Trunk or Treat" at a neighborhood park. I must have had the cutest witch there. I am not sure there is much to say about Tyler, come on, be a little more creative! Anyway, it was very fun. We decorated the back of our car and played Halloween music while the little kiddies came around.

Emma was so fascinated with her cauldron! She kept pulling treats out and putting them in the wagon or giving them to her friend Hailey. Then she'd pick them up to put back in her cauldron. Meanwhile, she was snacking on licorice.

"Emma, show us your teeth!"...She is very into showing her teeth

All decked out, even down to her shoes.

The Joy of Emma

Nap time

This is the way Emma sleeps these days. Up on her knees with her bum in the air, and her head down. Doesn't look too comfy to me! Funny thing is, I often find her dad sleeping this very same way. But then two hours later he finally says "Amen". =D
