Big Girl Bed!

It's about that time. Time to move Emma into a big girl bed to make way for the new baby. We put it together Sunday night and Emma was so excited about it until it came time to actually go to sleep in it. I think it scares her a little. Any suggestions on the best way to transition into a big girl bed?

Tyler and Emma preparing for the task at hand.

Emma was such a big helper. She loves to help you do everything! And I do mean everything!

Of course you have to test out the finished product. And since Daddy seems to be an expert on sleeping, Emma wanted him to test it out with her.

Our state fair is a great state fair!

I'm a little slow to post, but on September 8th we went to the fair. I don't know what it is about the fair, but I always look forward to going when it comes that time of year. I think it might be all that yummy fair food. Whatever it is, we had a great time!
Emma enjoyed the little hands on the farm exhibit where she learned all about farm chores. Mom and Dad enjoyed this as well because it was absolutely FREE!

I believe you cannot go to the fair without visiting the big yellow slide! Tyler enjoyed this one with Emma due to my ever increasing midsection.

Then it was off to the animals which is all Emma could talk about. We got to see a lamby get a haircut, and Emma discovered something about pigs.....
.... that they really stink!
It was hilarious! She was so excited to go see the piggies which were outdoors mind you. But when we walked in the tent, Emma started crying and trying to cover her nose. It was all she could do not to throw up. I wish I had the camera ready for her initial reaction, but I think you get the idea. Now, any time you mention the piggies, Emma will tell you that "piggy stinks!"

Happy Birthday Tyler!

September 14th was Tyler's 26th birthday. We are now in the latter years of our 20's. His actual birthday was pretty low-key since it was Sunday, but with all the family celebrations, the whole weekend was a party! I am a firm believer in dragging out birthdays as long as you can!

We got to celebrate with him on Friday. Emma and I took him bowling at Fat Cats where Emma almost beat us both! Either Emma is just really good, or we are terribly bad. I like to think Emma is just gifted. Then we enjoyed a meal at my all time favorite steakhouse, the Outback. Nothing fancy, but still a lot of fun. Tyler's favorite part was probably the fact that I drove the whole evening, which is rare.

Tyler is such an amazing person. He works so hard! Especially now as he builds our house. I'm grateful for all he does for us. I'm grateful for all his strengths that offset my weaknesses. You will never meet a kinder, more positive person than Tyler. As other friends come and go, this one fact will always remain the same; my best friend will always be Tyler. As for Emma, she loves her daddy and cherishes any time she can spend with him. She especially loves her little daddy-daughter dates to Cafe Rio. Happy Birthday Tyler! We love you!

It's raining, it's pouring.

I love the rain! I get frustrated sometimes because it seems that the rainstorms here last about five minutes and then they're done. Sunday was a good rainstorm and Tyler and Emma took full advantage!
Emma was so curious about the rain. She kept bugging us to go outside. Finally we caved thinking lets just let her do it, so that she'll know what it feels like and she won't want to do it anymore. Well, that didn't work because she LOVED it!
She ran around like crazy just laughing and screaming. It was pretty fun to watch. She loved it so much.....
.... this is the reaction we got when we made her come inside.

It's about Time!

I have made my first official purchase for our new house. Never mind all the wood and concrete, etc, etc. This is the important stuff!
I went up to Swiss Days with my parents and my sister on Saturday. I love Swiss Days. I found out about it only a few years ago. I had heard of it, but always thought it was some cultural festival, so I wasn't really interested. But then I found out it was shopping, and I've made it a priority to go every year since!
Anyway, there is almost always a trend at swiss days. One item that you see in almost everyone's hand. This year they had a lot of clock booths. Clocks are something I have overlooked in the past, but these clocks were different and unique, so I caved and bought two of them.

One for me......
.... and one for Emma.

Speaking of our house, here are a few recent pictures of the progress. Tyler has been working so hard! I've been really impressed and grateful. Its going to be a beautiful house. He's about ready to wrap up framing, and then we get to move on to the fun stuff!
